No está mal para empezar: el primero de Febrero comenzaron mis prácticas en el parque tecnológico de Boecillo, y hoy ya me han mandado a casa. Si a alguien le interesan los detalles de este desastre, puede preguntar; de momento diré que yo apreté un botón, y la reacción desproporcionada hizo el resto.
Not a bad beginning: February 1st was the starting point of my internship in the tech quarter of Boecillo, and today I was sent home. If someone wants to know the details of this disaster, feel free to ask; right now I'll just say that I pushed a button and a disproportioned reaction did everything else.

Aún no hay dibujo de la tigresa china porque he estado liado con tres cosas: las clases en la academia (por cierto, ya sé dónde haré las prácticas; qué asco me da el transporte del parque tecnológico de Boecillo) por un lado, las partidas frenéticas de "Team Fortress 2" (ya sólo me falta un hito, el tercero del médico... además de los del ingeniero, ¡cuando las publiquen!) por el otro, y de remate los ensayos de la versión española (¡sí, por fin la traduje!) de "Orion Prime", la cumbre artística de la informática de 8 bits.
There's no drawing of the Chinese tigress yet because I've been busy with three things: the academy lessons (by the way, I finally know where I'll do the internship; I hate so much the public transport to the Boecillo technological quarter) on one hand, the frantic rounds of "Team Fortress 2" (I lack just one milestone, the medic's third one... besides the engineer's ones, when they're available!) on the other hand, and last but not least the tests of the Spanish version (yes, at last I translated it!) of "Orion Prime", the artistic summit of the 8-bit computer science.

Una vez más se produce el milagro de la despedida de un año y la bienvenida de otro. 2009 terminó aquí hace ya casi 17 horas; ahora me planteo los objetivos de 2010. ¿Bajar peso? ¿Crear mi propio empleo? ¿Rodar mi primer cortometraje animado? ¡Todo es posible si se quiere! De momento ya me he puesto manos a la obra para hacer un dibujillo con el que felicitar el año chino del tigre.
Once again we witness the miracle of a year's farewell and another year's welcome. 2009 ended here nearly 17 hours ago; now I'm pondering my goals for 2010. Losing weight? Creating my own job? Shooting my first animated short film? Everything's possible if you want to! Right now I've already begun working on a little picture aiming to celebrate the Chinese year of the tiger.

Llevo varios días constantemente llamando por teléfono y enviando mensajes electrónicos a familiares y amigos en un intento desesperado de poder desearles a todos unas felices fiestas... pero es imposible, porque hablo de centenares de personas que no siempre están disponibles, unas por estar trabajando, otras por haber partido de vacaciones y otras simplemente por no estar. Así que ahora que el día 25 de Diciembre ha comenzado oficialmente según el observatorio astronómico de Greenwich (el que marca las horas internacionales) quiero desear públicamente una feliz Navidad a todos quienes leéis estas líneas.
I've spent the past days calling by phone and sending instant messages non-stop to relatives and friends in a desperate attempt at managing to wish them all happy holidays... but it's impossible, because I mean hundreds of people who aren't always available, some of them because they're at work, other times because they're already gone on vacation and others simply because they weren't there. So now that December 25th has officially begun according to the Greenwich astronomical observatory (the one that sets the international times) I want to publicly wish a merry Christmas to everyone who reads these lines.

Tras conseguir ajustar el casete de una manera satisfactoria y descubrir las maravillas del filtro Butterworth de paso-banda, he estado digitalizando cintas que se me resistían... desde hacía 20 años, porque en su momento ¡ni siquiera me funcionaban en mi Amstrad CPC de verdad!
After managing to set the cassette up in a satisfactory way and discovering the wonders of the band-pass Butterworth filter, I've been digitising tapes that gave me trouble... since 20 years ago, because back in the day they didn't even work in my real Amstrad CPC!

Lamentablemente, la cinta de "Cosa Nostra" (que junto a "Livingstone Supongo" y "The Last Mission" era uno de los tres primeros juegos de Opera) está demasiado estropeada. Ahora debería probar con otros juegos de Opera, tales como "Mutan Zone" y "Poli Díaz"... quizás después de comer. Por cierto, la cinta que utilicé para ajustar el casete fue una famosa y bien documentada:
Unfortunately, the tape of "Cosa Nostra" (that together with "Livingstone Supongo" and "The Last Mission" was one of Opera's first three games) is too damaged. Now I should try with other games by Opera, such as "Mutan Zone" and "Poli Díaz"... perhaps after lunch. By the way, the tape I used to adjust the cassette was a famous and well documented one:

Haciendo de runner en el decorado CTF_Orange me encuentro con un constructor llamado Ultros. Como no puedo bajar sin que su ametralladora me haga polvo, se me ocurre hacer el payaso... ¡y me imita, parece simpático! :)
Playing as a runner in the CTF_Orange map I find a constructor nicknamed Ultros. Since I can't go down without his autogun blowing me up in little bits, I somehow feel like taunting... and so does he, such a nice guy! :)

Y es que en las últimas dos semanas se completó mi relación laboral con Cobalto Software (en condiciones aceptables de momento, ya veremos en el futuro) y luego apareció... no, son noticias aún en curso, esperaré al próximo Lunes para explicarlas.
And indeed the last two weeks saw the end of my labour relationship with Cobalto Software (in acceptable conditions so far, but we'll see in the future) and later the appearance of... no, these news are still going on, I'll wait until Monday to explain them.
